Methodology

Audiobaba is a new personalized music recommendation engine that consists of a mini-player that uses its patented "Triple Play Analysis" to generate recommendations and playlists. "Triple Play Analysis" consists of computerized audio analysis, human factor analysis, and personalized learning that fine tunes your recommendations based on your track-by-track listening patterns. The audiobaba mini-player includes three forms of personalized music recommendation - a playlist maker, a crystal ball recommender, and an AutoGJ - that allow the listener to discover new music. In order to make these recommendations, Audiobaba analyzes each individual track that a listener has in his/her playlist and creates a similar music network between the tracks in a database.

Pros and Cons

Because Audiobaba is still in Beta, the service still has a lot of technical and logistical issues to resolve before it becomes a viable source of music recommendations. The software can take days to fully analyze a musical library and its audio analysis is subpar at best, making the recommendations hit and miss. The concept and design of Audiobaba, however, show great potential and thus the service could make a big impact in the near future, once it has been polished and refined.
