Methodology

Music reviews are the most direct way for listener's to receive or express opinions on music. Listeners of different experience, background, and taste in music (professional, blog, and peer reviewers) manually input their opinion about a track, album, or artist in either quantifiable or written form. In this way, listeners can express their opinions on music and view the opinions of others as well.

Pros and Cons

As a medium of music recommendation, reviews are the simplest and most direct method for listener to recommend music to others. A good review method will enable reviews that are both easy to comprehend and in-depth enough to make valuable recommendations to other listeners. The primary downside of reviews in general is that it takes time for listeners to rate music and having computers understand listener preferences implicitly, such as through similar music networks, is less cumbersome for the listener.
