Overview

The proposed service will use a personalized music recommendation engine to generate music recommendations to users via a variety of mediums based on past preferences and the preferences of similar users.

What music do I like?

The proposed music recommendation service will use a variety of user inputs - including direct user ratings, tags, and playcounts - to determine a listener's preference in music.

What music will I like?

A listener's preference will then be compared to the preferences of other users, blogs, and professional review sites and the preferences of similar listeners will be given significantly more weight when generating recommendations for the listener. Audio analysis techniques will also be incorporated into recommendations as technology improves over time. Other basic music information will be incorporated into the service as well.

How will I listen to my new music?

The service will run both as an application in a listener's personal media player on his/her computer and as a streaming radio service, and will run on both personal computers and portable devices.
